Faith and Current Events<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Personal:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n I often say to myself after our Sunday discussion group, \u201cThat was one of the better ones!\u201d Then the next week comes and I say the same thing. Today, our group of 16, simply took five to seven minutes to briefly answer several questions which gave us a glimpse into each other\u2019s lives, passions, and faith. The last question was, How has Covid19 changed your world? This group would not exist had not Covid shut down our church discussion group. We have come together out of our need to find some common ground, community, and a way forward in this time of uncertainty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Our core group consists of three couples, three single ladies, five single men, another seven people who attend periodically, aging in range from 23-75, from three countries, life experiences from dozens of countries, and a variety perspectives. I am so grateful to be in this life\u2019s journey together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n My Take-Aways:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Some comments on our definition of a \u201cperson of faith:\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00b7 Living it out<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00b7 Belief without proof<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00b7 Searcher of truth\/recognizing the role of doubt<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00b7 Pursuer of love<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00b7 Being like Jesus<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00b7 Abraham (The patriarch of faith in the O.T. but also flawed and weak.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00b7 Caring for and identifying with the least, lost, lonely<\/p>\n\n\n\n Hebrews 11: 1 \u201cFaith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Another version puts it this way, \u201cWhat is faith? It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n James 2: 18 \u201cShow me your faith apart from your works, and I by my works will show you my faith. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n May the Spirit of Christ through this advent season invade and seep deep into our souls giving us a sense of peace, hope, and joy.
