Founders Corner

Thank you for stopping in and spending a little time where I reflect on our life experiences. I am just an ordinary guy surrounded and encouraged by a terrific girlfriend turned into the mother and grandma of our two kids and eight grandchildren. We have been together for over 50 years.

Over a 22 year period, we have lived in three foreign countries, worked in another six, and visited over forty. We have had the privilege of being in the real estate business for over 15 years and then founding an international water filter business.

My claim to fame is that I really enjoy long distance hiking having hiked the Camino (502 miles in 31 days) and the Appalachian Trail (2,172 miles in 181 days). Now I am working on the North Country Trail, 4,200 miles.

It is the relationship with the giver of life that our journey has purpose and meaning. Those of you that we know have also added a deepness and richness to our lives for which we are forever grateful.

Person of Faith

Faith and Current Events Personal: I often say to myself after our Sunday discussion group, “That was one of the better ones!”  Then the next week comes and I say the same thing.  Today, our group of 16, simply took five to seven minutes to briefly answer...

Forty Days

March 24th is when the State of Michigan was initially starting to shut down its economic activity. Today is day 34. I started to think about 40-day/year periods of solitude or isolation in the Bible.  The Jewish use of the symbolism of numbers associated with letters...

COVID-19 was a stranger until this evening.  One friend told me today that he lost a brother.  Another friend lost his best friend.  Both died of COVID-19.  Within a month, we will all know someone by name who has been infected, hospitalized, and...

New Life, Real Life, Eternal Life

It was Easter.  It is about New Life, Real Life, Eternal Life.  Our pastor spoke that morning about discovering resurrection through reading scripture, people, circumstances, and creation.  Each day I walk for a couple of hours.  I see evidence of renewed life...

Reflection: Irony

Reflection: Irony

This viral infection and our response seem to me to be full of irony.  So, here goes just some observations and questions.    My wife is a non-practicing nurse, retired, and unable to work BUT if she was, I would truly be concerned for her heath.  I saw on the...
